Crowds at the Indianapolis Clowns baseball game hosted at Forbes Field. The Indianapolis Clowns were the longest lived team in the Negro American League, lasting from 1930 to 1989. The Clowns hold the distinction of being the first pro-baseball team to accept female members, "Toni" Stone (in 1953), Mamie "Peanut" Johnson (in 1954), and Connie Morgan (in 1954). Big names including Hank Aaron, "Goose" Tatum, and Paul Casanova began their careers with the team.
