Description
This postcard gives a wonderful view of both Verona High School and Verona Public School (Verona Elementary and/or the First Ward School House). Verona's first school house originally called the First Ward School House was built in 1876 (school building in the background). It housed classes for all ages until the Verona Public School (school building in the foreground) was built in 1912-1913. Then, when the Verona Public School grew, the elementary schoolchildren were relocated back to this school building and it became the Verona Elementary and the Verona Public School became the Verona High School. The Verona Borough School District was incorporated with the Oakmont School District in 1971.
