Description
Progress Photograph Number 27 of the William Penn Hotel. The hotel was designed by Janssen and Abbot and the construction engineer was James L. Stuart. The steel framing of the two lowest levels for the lobby are twice as tall as the stories for the rooms. The steel frames are stamped with American Bridge Co. It still looks like this photograph was taken from the top of Kaufmann's Department store. And the lights that illuminate the front of the Leader building are also visible. They have continued more work on the brick masonry; the first three floors of the residential part of the hotel are completed. The lower four floors are covered in a white stone, while the rest of the hotel is built with brick.
