Description
Progress Photograph Number 23 of the William Penn Hotel. The hotel was designed by Janssen and Abbot and the construction engineer was James L. Stuart. There are four completed stories and the lower-level for the lobby is also being working on. In the background, there is a little bridge that connects the Nixon Theater and the Dept. of Public Safety, over Cherry Street. In the lower left hand corner, the building with the projecting street lamps is the top of the Father Pitt Leader Building. The white building beyond the Leader building is the Davis Theater. This photograph was probably taken on the top of the Kaufmann's Department store building.
