Description
Progress Photograph 18 for the William Penn Hotel. The hotel was designed by Janssen and Abbot and the construction engineer was James L. Stuart. They are setting the steel supports for the hotel. Vertical standing I-beams have been erected. Near the left side of the photograph, a larger beam stretched horizontally, reads American Bridge Co. The Pittsburgh Leader paper building is in the background, and Kaufmann's Department Store and the Carnegie building are also in the background. The Davis Theater (white building with tall, arched windows) and the People's Gas Company Building (to the right of the Davis Theater) are also visible.
