Crowds watch a race at the Schenley Oval with a view of the Pittsburgh Golf Club in the distance. According to the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, the Schenley Oval was built in 1895. By 1904 it featured a grandstand and stables. Races were held on weekends and Wednesday afternoons.
