Description
Second Ward housing which was demolished to make way for Carnegie-Illinois Mill expansion in Homestead. In order to provide sufficient area for a new Armor-Plate Mill, Carnegie-Illinois bought a huge area immediately adjoining their present mill facilities. Approximately 1650 families were moved from the Homestead area, 80% of which worked at either Carnegie-Illinois or Mesta Machine.
