Description
Sano no Tsuneyo, a poverty-stricken former samurai whose lands were unjustly usurped, shares what little he has left to make a traveling priest, who is in fact the shogunal regent Hōjō no Tokiyori, comfortable. Tsuneyo goes so far as to sacrifice his last three bonsai trees for firewood to make the guest comfortable. Tsuneyo later is called to Kamakura and has his lands returned to him. Mizuta Number: 14. Signature: 耕漁 [Kōgyo]. Seal: White letter seal in a rectangular shape with double border: 湖畔 [Kohan]. Category: Miscellaneous (Fourth).
