The Chancellor provided an annual or sometimes a biennial report to the Board of Trustees addressing the state of the University. The reports focused on academics, athletics, capital projects and enrollment. Occasionally these reports revealed the University’s role or response to external events in the country and the world.
The time span provided here includes the great influenza epidemic of 1918, World War I, the construction of the Cathedral of Learning, and the Great Depression.
Documenting Pitt includes the following reports: 1893-1894, 1897, 1899-1900, 1902, 1904-1912, 1915-1919, 1921-1922, 1924, 1926, 1930, 1932, 1934, 1936, and 1938.
