ASC Adds More City Photographer Images to Online Collection
The Archives Service Center added 647 new images from 1905-1940 to the Pittsburgh City Photographer online image collection. Topics include photographs taken for the Mayor's office which document redevelopment of Downtown, visitors, and photographs of letters and telegrams received by the Mayor; photographs of plans and drawings for street equipment such as light posts, monuments, and manholes; notable neighborhoods include Schenley Park, Downtown, Perry Hilltop, Friendship, the Hill District, and the North Side; notable people and groups include Carnegie Steel Co., Duquesne Works employees, Stephen Foster's family (including an view of Foster's tombstone), and Charles Lindberg landing at Bettis Airfield and arriving at Pitt Stadium.
