Description
On the front of the capital, a man and an angel face one another. On the left is a bearded man, wearing a short garment . He grasps the neck of the garment of the angel (right). The angel has a halo and wings. With its right hand it lifts its index and middle finger in a gesture of blessing while he holds the hem of his garment in front of him with his left hand. There is foliage on the sides of the capital. Salet: Number 27 Salet identifies this scene as the Old Testament story of Jacob wrestling with the Angel (Genesis 32: 24-32) Location: South side of nave. East side of seventh arcade pier from the west
