Description
General or Old Testament subject (?)Teacher and Students (?) On left side (not visible), a figure holds a book, while two people watch (they are badly damaged so the details are hard to distinguish). At right (shown), in an oval-shaped medallion, are three seated figures- the one in the center is much larger than the other two (an adult with two children?) The central figure holds an open book facing toward the viewer. The smaller figure on the right holds a rectangular object (another book?) The left of the smaller figures gestures toward the book. Salet gives the subject matter as "Teachers and Pupils" Meunier 45-6) suggests that it is "Josias who reestablished the religion of God and read the holy books", while Terret thought it represents King David reading the Law.
