Left Jambs: Moses
Moses (haloed, bearded) holds the Tablets of the Law and the staff holding the brazen serpent. In Numbers 21:6-9, God told Moses to make a serpent of brass. If any of a poisonous snake bit the Israelites, they could look at this serpent and be healed. The brazen serpent was thought to prefigure Christ on the Cross.
