The Zodiac/Labours of the Month was very popular during the Middle Ages. There are two other representations at Chartres- one on the side portals of the west façade and one on the right portal of the North Porch.
27 panels, armature pattern of quatrefoils and circles
Donated by the vintners and perhaps others (Count Theobald of Chartres and /or members of a religious establishment of which he was a patron). These donors also gave the adjacent Life of the Virgin window.
Location- Second bay of south Choir aisle. To the right, in the same bay, is a Life of the Virgin window given by the same patrons.
7.47 meters high and 2.01 meters wide
The Labors of the Months are on the left side, the Signs of the Zodiac are on the right.
Restored by Gaudin in 1905.
