Panel 26: The Jew beats the statue of St. Nicholas.
This window only contains one episode from a complex miracle. In it, a Jew puts up a statue of St Nicholas in his home, asking it to protect his property. However, thieves take all of his goods. In anger, the Jew beats the statue of St. Nicholas (scene shown). However, St Nicholas appears to the thieves and shows them the wounds inflicted on him. They are contrite and return all the property the have stolen from the Jew. Because of this, the Jew converts to Christianity.
At left stands the Jew, bearded wearing a pointed “Jews cap” with flaps covering his ears. In one hand he holds a whip while with the other he holds the gold statue of St. Nicholas (haloed, with mitre, holding crosier) which stands on a column with a carved capital. To the extreme left is stylized vegetation. Behind the figure of the Jew is a building with a door. Behind the statue may be an arcade.
