Description
Theodore and Vincent Window
Delaporte no. 39, Deremble-Manhes no. 9
Panel 33: Dacien orders Vincent’s body be thrown into the sea (above)
At left stands Dacien, holding a staff and wearing a round cap. He looks and gestures toward another man who stands at left. His body is facing left, but he looks backward toward Dacien.
Panel 31: Vincent’s body guarded by birds (below)
Dacien ordered that Vincent’s body be exposed to be devoured by wild beasts. Instead, it was defended by ravens.
Vincent’s naked body (haloed) lies at right. Above him flies two birds, one white and one red. Delaporte speculates that they are colored like this because the glassmakers had no satisfactory way of making black glass. To the left stand two quadrupeds. At the extreme left is a stylized tree, to show that the scene is taking place out of doors.
