Panel 13 (left)- Christ meets the Pilgrims on the way to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-29)
On the far left and right are cities with round towers, crenellated walls, and other structures. These represent Jerusalem and Jericho - the pilgrims are going from Jerusalem to Jericho. Jerusalem (left) has a large structure in front of it which probably represents the city gates.
Christ (halo with cross, barefoot, taller than the other figures) stands at left- he carries a long staff. At his hip is a pouch with a Greek cross on it- it is supported by a long strap over his shoulder. This is very similar to the scrip carried by pilgrims in the Middle Ages.
Two men (bearded, barefooted carrying staffs) stand at right, turned toward Christ. The one nearest Christ wears a pointed “Jew’s cap” and carries a pilgrimage pouch.
Above are stylized clouds.
Panel 14 (right)-Supper at Emmaus (Luke 24:30-1)
There is a long table parallel to the plane of the panel. Christ (halo with cross, barefooted) sits in the center, facing frontally toward the viewer. He raises one hand in a gesture of blessing while with the other he touches the plate in front of him on the tablecloth. One either side of him sit the pilgrims. They look at Christ and each raises a hand.
