Panel 21: Child with a cup falls into the sea.
In this miracle, shown in panels 21 and 22, a man prays to St. Nicholas for a son, and promises that he will give St. Nicholas a gold cup if his prayer was answered, which they were. As the child is taking the cup to the shrine of St Nicholas, he falls into the sea. St Nicholas rescues him and returns him to his parents.
In the center is a ship with a curved prow, a furled sail on its single mast, and a two pronged stern (with a rope hanging on it?). In it sit four people: two sailors wearing hoods sit on each end, facing inwards and holding oars; a woman and a bearded man sit between them. Their identity is unclear-they could be the child’s parents.
Below the boat is the child, pulled into the water with a hook by a horned blue demon. The covered cup falls to the bottom.
