Description
Life of Nicholas Window
Delaporte no. 60, Deremble-Manhes no. 39
Panel 13: Woman with child
The exact meaning of this panel is obscure. To the left are buildings with roofs. Gables, windows and crenellated walls- this might indicate that this part of the story takes place outside. In the center of the composition stands a woman looking toward the left. Delaporte suggests that her hands are clapping in applause. Behind her is an open door. To the right, is an interior scene, with a curtain hanging at the top. Below, a naked infant stands in a basin on a stool. Behind the infant is a fire.
