Description
The Passion Window
Delaporte no. 3, Deremble-Manhes no. 51
The Passion of Christ is also the subject of the frieze on the west façade which is also presented in narrative form, and in the Passion or Redemption window (Delaporte no. 59, Deremble-Manhes no. 37) where the subject is treated typologically. There are also eight scenes from the Passion of Christ in the Acts of the Apostles window (Delaporte no. 34, Deremble-Manhes no. 0).
Location: This window is on the south side of the west façade of Chartres. The other two west windows show the Jesse Tree and the Infancy of Christ. With the Belle Verrière window, the three west windows are the oldest at Chartres- they survived the fire of 1194.

Restored in the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries, in 1894-1902, cleaned in 1974 by P. Gaudin.
