North Porch, Central Portal, Right Jambs: John the Baptist and Peter : Detail - Socles, a Dragon and a Rock
The socle beneath the figure of John the Baptist is a dragon. Peter's socle is a rock, since in Matthew 16:18–19, Christ says of Peter "On this rock I shall build my church."
Note the traces of paint uncovered during the cleaning of this porch in the 1990's.
