Description
The Sylvester Window
Delaporte no. 30, Deremble-Manhes no. 8.
Panel 38: Figure holds scroll with one of Constantine's laws about the Church
This is a small (.25 m) circular panel showing a bearded, crowned figure holding a scroll. The script is 15th century and reads
Divit d[omi]n[u]s d[omi]no meo fedit a devstris meis quia fesuefit im [sic]
Delaporte thinks that this originally held the law of the fifth “day” listed in the laws of Constantine about the Christians. He thinks it was restored erroneously in the 15th century.
