3: Martyrdom of Sernin (?)
Sernin (Saturninus) was the first bishop of Toulouse. When he refused to sacrifice to idols, he was tied by his feet to a bull and dragged around the city until he died.
At left stands a figure in a coif (one of the pious women who buried him?). At right is a steep staircase. Sernin wearing Episcopal vestments including a mitre, lies on his back. He is being pulled down the steps by a very small bull.
The scene is framed by trilobed arch supported by columns . Above are towers, gables, and roofs.
