According to some accounts, after Pantaleon had been accused by jealous colleagues (panel 8), the Emperor Maximien asked him to renounce Christianity. To prove the power of Christianity, Pantaleon cured a man with withered limbs. The Emperor took this as a sign that Pantaleon was a magician, and condemned him to death.
The sufferer is at left, wearing a hooded garment. His legs are twisted and he holds a frame which he uses to support himself. Pantaleon (haloed), stands at right, raising his hand. In the background is and arcade with carved capitols- a roof is above
