Panel 4: Pantaleon raises a young man bitten by a snake
One day, Pantaleon came upon the corpse of a young man that had been bitten by a poisonous serpent, which lurked nearby. Pantaleon prayed to Christ, the young man revived, and the snake died.
The young man, dressed in a short tunic, stands at right. At center is the serpent, descried in the text as a viper and depicted as a snake with wings and talons. Pantaleon (haloed, tonsured) is at right, bending over and raising his hand as if to chide the serpent.
