Panel 4: Christ and a man
MODERN (1872)
This, together with panel 5, form a single scene from John 1:35-7, in which John the Baptist points out Christ to two of his disciples, saying “Behold the Lamb of God”.
Christ (barefoot, halo with cross) stands at right, looking and raising his hand toward Panel 5. To the left stands a barefooted man without a halo. This is a modern replacement. Pintard, writing in the early eighteenth century, described this panel as “Our Lord with an angel behind him”.
