Description
The Infancy of Christ Window
Delaporte no. 2, Deremble-Manhes no. 50
Panel 19- Inhabitants of a city greet the Holy Family
This panel and panel 20 form a two-panel scene of the Return of the Holy Family from Egypt.
Most of the panel contains a depiction of the city with crenellated walls, roofs, towers and domes. To the right, in front of a city gate, stands a crowd of five or more people, all looking toward panel 20 (which shows the holy Family returning from Egypt). At least two of them are women. One of the men wears a Jew's cap.
Delaporte identifies the city as Jerusalem.
