Houvet identifies this figure as St. Cyprian (Thaschus Cæcilius Cyprianus) being beheaded. Cyprian was a wealthy older man who converted to Christianity and became bishop of Carthage. He was beheaded in 258 AD.
At left is the executioner, holding a sword. Cyprian stands at right, wearing a mitre and episcopal vestments.
