Panel 6: Birth of Nicholas
Nicholas’ mother lies on a draped bed which is parallel to the plane of the panel. Behind her head is a green object (an elaborate pillow?) Another woman is offering her a bowl of small round objects which are similar to the objects on the counters in the donor panels. On the floor stands a cup. In the background is an elaborate arcade with carved capitals and curtains hanging from the arches (perhaps indications of Nicholas’ parents’ wealth).
