Panel 19: Thomas thrown into a furnace
Because of Thomas’ success in converting the people of India to Christianity, King Mygdeus ordered that Thomas be thrown into a furnace. The flames in the furnace died.
At left is a man in a short tunic holding a club or stick. He is pushing a figure into the arched door of a furnace at right. The furnace has a base of masonry. Its interior is red, to show that it is full of fire
