Panel 04: Christ washes the feet of the Apostles (John 13:1-15)
Christ (halo with a cross, barefoot) kneels at center, with a cloth tied around his waist. He holds one of the feet of Peter (halo, facial type associated with Peter) who sits at right. Christ is washing Peter’s foot in a large basin like a baptismal font. Peter raises a hand in protest. Three other apostles (halos) stand at left and at three others (with halos) stand behind Peter.
Above is an arcade above which towers and a building are visible, a reference to the interior setting of the Last Supper, in the Upper Room.
