Panel 7: The cup-bearer of the king of Andropolis is attacked by a lion
Thomas and Abbanes arrived at Andropolis just in time for the wedding of the daughter of the king of Andropolis. Andropolis’ cupbearer mocked Thomas and struck him for not eating some of the meat set before him because he was a Jew. Thomas prophesized that he would see the cupbearer’s hand would be brought before him by a dog before the feast was over. The cupbearer went to a spring for more water, was attacked and killed by a lion, and his dismembered hand was carried by a dog into the wedding feast.
Stylized trees and clouds in the background indicate that this scene took place out of doors. The cupbearer is at right, being attacked by a large lion. At lower right, a yellow dog bites off his hand. Cups are scattered below him.
