Series I. Collective Bargaining Conferences, United Steelworkers of America and the Coordinating Committee, Steel Companies, 1966-1969

Scope and Content Notes:

Series I is comprised of three volumes of materials pertaining to the Steel Companies' Coordinating Committee Collective Bargaining Conferences and covering the years 1966 to 1968. Included within this series are general memoranda, confidential memoranda, news releases from the United Steel Workers of America, news releases from the United States Steel Corporation, lists of arbitrators and their credentials, proposals for contract clauses, correspondence from I.W. Abel, correspondence from R. Conrad Cooper, and notes which were handwritten by Cooper.

Volume 1 "Chrons" (chronological sequences of documents, 14 July 1966 - 16 May 1968

Documents relating mainly to management - labor relations, collective bargaining, arbitration settlements, correspondence, memoranda, lists of arbitrators (and their credentials), and news releases. Contents also include correspondence between I.W. Abel and R. Conrad Cooper.

Volume 2 Coordinating Committee (Steel Companies) -- Meetings and Union Meetings, 7 January 1966 - 22 May 1968

Documents relating mainly to management - labor relations, collective bargaining, and arbitration. Material also contains data on potential arbitrators, handwritten notes (written/copied by R. Conrad Cooper), correspondence, marginalia written on correspondence by Cooper, contract proposals, and notes on meetings between Cooper and I.W. Abel.

Volume 3 Coordinating Committee (Steel Companies)-- Meetings and Union Meetings, 20 March 1968 - 6 June 1969

Documents dealing with management-labor relations and collective bargaining topics, correspondence, portions of contract proposals, hand-copied notes of RCC, marginalia, and economic data.
