Subseries 15. Union Safe Deposit Co. Administrative Material, 1897-1913

Scope and Content Notes: The administrative records of the Union Safe Deposit Co. contain by-laws, newspaper clippings, memoranda, contracts, agreements, notices, and meeting minutes. There is also material relating to advertising, annual meetings, and applications. The meeting minutes are copies of minutes from the Board of Directors and Stockholders meetings. Advertising material include correspondence, booklets, postcards, and newspaper clippings for the company. In additional to the Union Safe Deposit Co. advertisements there is promotional material from companies like the Globe National Bank (Chicago), National Park Bank (New York), Lincoln Safe Deposit (New York City), Mercantile Safe Deposit (New York City), and the Union Trust (Pittsburgh).
The annual meeting materials contain drafts of minutes, lists of stockholders, meeting notices, ballots, and list of “boxes” rented. Information regarding the company’s name change can be found in the folder labeled as “Armor Safe Deposit Co.” Information on the company’s liquidation can be in the folder labeled “dissolution matters.” The remaining materials include inventories, business cards, calendars, renter cards, and resignation letters. The materials in this subseries date from 1897 to 1913.
