Subseries 2. Correspondence between Paul Oppenheim, Kurt Grelling, and C.G. Hempel and Related Material, 1930-1974
|
Scope and Content Notes: The Oppenheim-Hempel-Grelling correspondence testifies to Hempel’s and Paul Oppenheim’s ultimately failing efforts to help Kurt Grelling and his family to immigrate to the U.S. during their internment in camps in southern France under the Vichy regime during 1940-1942. Grelling and his wife died in 1942, probably at the concentration camp of Auschwitz or Birkenau.
