Series I. National Service Bureau publications, 1936-1939

Scope and Content Notes:

This series of National Service Bureau publications includes bibliographies, synopses with production notes, and play scripts covering political, ethnic, holiday, historical, religious, children’s and marionette plays. The National Service Bureau was officially established in 1937 by combining the Federal Theatre Project's Play Bureau and Play Policy Board. The National Service Bureau was headquartered in New York City where it supported regional Federal Theatre Project units by providing research material, consultation services, and publications such as those found within this series.
