Series II. District Development, 1979-2000

Scope and Content Notes:

This series consists of office files and architectural materials related to the Penn-Liberty Historic District of downtown Pittsburgh. This area, also known as Pittsburgh’s Cultural District, was named to the US Register of Historic Districts in 1987. Primarily contains records on the development and planning of the O'Reilly Theater, the Allegheny Riverfront park, and Theater Square.

Scope and Content Notes:

The District Development series includes information regarding the many buildings operated by the Cultural Trust and their plans to improve and revitalize the Cultural District. There is a considerable amount of materials detailing the plans for what would become the O'Reilly Theater, Allegheny Riverfront park, and Theater Square. Also included are materials related to the renovations of buildings along Penn Avenue that are in Cultural District. The materials are arranged in alphabetical order by the title of the folder.* Urban Development Action Grant, Urban Redevelopment Authority.
