Subseries 16 contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, notes, and other records relating to Elsie Hillman’s interest and involvement in the campaign of Elmer McClung for Pittsburgh City council in 1986. When the city Democratic Party failed to produce any African-American candidates, Elsie pushed for McClung, an African-American Republican from East Liberty, to be a candidate on the Republican ticket.
