The Archives Service Center completed a box-level inventory of the entire Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad Company Records
. The collection, which comprises almost 1,000 linear feet, documents the many facets of the management and operation of the railroad company throughout its long history, mainly from the 1860s through 1999. Not only does the material contain information about the P&LE, but also the various branch lines were controlled by the New York Central Railroad System (1883-1968) and later by Penn Central (1968-1970). The collection is open for research use, but only a box-level inventory exists at the present time.
