The Archives Service Center added 539 new images
to the Pittsburgh City Photographer
online image collection. Scanned from glass plate negatives by the ULS Digital Research Library, some of these images visually record the monumental efforts required to lower the hump in Downtown which affected Grant Street, Diamond Street, and Oliver, Fifth, Sixth, Webster and Wylie Avenues specifically, as well as other neighboring streets. We now have over 400 images, including photographs and planning diagrams, that document this effort. Other images in our new addition include area streets and the further document Pittsburgh's development of water treatment facilities.
